You can also send a private message to the admin from inside the app without an account: open any chat and tap "Message admin".

Community Rules

Boat Maps has a chat for boaters to share information about places on the water. We operate zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. By signing in to post, you agree to these rules:

• Be respectful. No harassment, hate speech, personal attacks, or threats.
• No spam, advertising, or posts unrelated to the spot.
• No illegal content and no sharing of other people's private information.
• Report messages that break the rules.
• Messages may be removed and accounts banned, usually within 24 hours of a report.

Reporting a Message

If you see a message that breaks the rules:

1. Open the chat where the message appears.
2. Tap the … button on the message.
3. Choose Report and confirm.

Reports go to the admin only. We review reports and act on them, typically within 24 hours. Repeat or serious offenders are banned.

Blocking a User

If you do not want to see messages from a particular user:

1. Open a chat where the user has posted.
2. Tap the … button on one of their messages.
3. Choose Block user and confirm.

Their messages will disappear from your view immediately. They are not notified that you blocked them. To unblock someone, open Settings → Blocked users and tap Unblock.

Deleting Your Own Message

Tap your own message and choose Delete. The text is wiped immediately. The empty row stays so replies below it remain readable, shown as "[deleted]".

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account from inside the app:

1. Sign in if you are not already.
2. Open Settings.
3. Scroll to the Account section and tap Delete account.
4. Confirm the deletion in the dialog.

Your profile, blocks and reports are removed immediately. Your chat messages are anonymised and marked as deleted so reply threads from other users remain readable. The deletion is permanent — sign in again afterwards and you will be treated as a new user.

If you cannot access the app or prefer to delete by email, contact nicklndrs@gmail.com from the email address linked to your account and we will complete the deletion within 30 days.

App Doesn't Work as Expected?

If you run into a bug — incorrect route, crash, missing place — please email us with:

• What you were doing when it happened
• The device and OS version (e.g. iPhone 14, iOS 18.2)
• A screenshot if possible
