Boat Maps is a waterway navigation app for Amsterdam. We collect as little data as possible. You can browse the map and read chats without signing in. You only need to sign in if you want to post in chats.
Boat Maps uses your device's GPS to display your position on the map and provide turn-by-turn navigation. Your precise location is processed on your device and is never transmitted to our servers, except for the coarse coordinates you choose to attach when posting a chat message about a spot.
When you view the map, the visible map area (a bounding box of the region on screen) is sent to our server to load nearby points of interest such as restaurants and docks. This does not identify you.
If you sign in to post chat messages, we use Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple. We receive and store:
Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth. We do not store your provider password.

We operate zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Reported content and reported users are reviewed, and offending messages or accounts are typically removed within 24 hours.

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing.
You can delete your account at any time directly from the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. Your profile, blocks and reports are removed immediately, and your chat messages are anonymised and marked as deleted.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Boat Maps is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
We may update this policy occasionally. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
